Heated questions came from large crowd at landfill meeting
It may not come as a surprise to many that radioactive waste has been detected at a site in St. Louis. St. Louis was the site of many of the first uranium enrichment projects of the early 1940s, and radioactive waste has been stored in several places around the city. However, to find out that it is in an area which has not yet been thoroughly tested and may lie in the path of a smoldering, underground landfill fire could raise many concerns. This was apparent at a meeting of the West Lake Community Advisory Group, held on October 26 at the District 9 Machinists Hall in Bridgeton, Missouri.
