(KPLR) – This week on “The Pulse of St. Louis”, a panel discussion on the Bridgeton Landfill.

State Attorney General, Chris Koster, visited the Bridgeton Landfill and Westlake Landfill Monday after a fire broke out at the Bridgeton facility Sunday due to a methane gas leak. No one at the landfill called firefighters, which is proper protocol. Firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving an emergency call from a member of the community. Technicians scheduled to monitor the dump around the clock put out the fire by covering it with dirt.  Koster filed a lawsuit against Republic Services, which owns the landfills, last year for environmental violations. The company insists there are no health risks to the community. Tonight on The Pulse Of St. Louis, we’ll take a closer look at issues surrounding the landfills.

There are five Segments attached to the linked story.
