We have been told that Republic Services has hired John Bardgett & Associates to lobby against the HCR 3 resolution that calls for West Lake Landfill to be turned over to FUSRAP.
The names of the lobbyists are Brian Bernskoetter and Randy Scherr.
You need to call your state reps and make sure they sign onto this resolution. Here are the reasons why this needs to go to the army corps. We have already had one representative back out…… you can verify this info …at Missouri Ethics Commisson
FUSRAP:
Financially responsible parties are NOT in charge of studying the site.
Financially responsible parties CANNOT tie up a decision in court if it costs too much.
Literally headquartered and in charge of the site where the radioactive wastes came from that were dumped at West Lake. More experience handling radioactive wastes than EPA.
West Lake literally needs a Corps of Engineers instead of a few Superfund employees in charge of West Lake.
EPA:
Financially responsible parties ARE in charge of studying the site.
Financially responsible parties CAN tie up a decision in court if it costs too much, jeopardizing public safety.
EPA NEVER asked FUSRAP for help understanding the radioactive material that came from the FUSRAP site.
EPA NEVER considered a landfill fire a threat to radioactive wastes even though it knew a landfill fire was present in the 1990’s.
