City of St Ann Board of Alderman Workshop Hearing Leachate Pipe Construction St Charles Rock Rd, 12/29/2014

10665387_316319821909848_4728253324609872317_nBoard of Aldermen for the City of St. Ann hold a hearing on the Force Main pipe being installed by MSD down St Charles Rock Road from the Bridgeton / Republic Landfill to the lift station at the intersection of 170 and St. Charles Rock Road for the Bissell Point Plant in which they were not informed of since it was using State Highway right of way.

Lois Gibbs, founder of the Center for Health and Environmental Justice (CHEJ) and nominated for the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize, came to St. Louis County to address Community about a smoldering fire has been and still is slowly moving toward radioactive wastes which were illegally dumped at the adjacent West Lake Landfill over 40 years ago.

Lois Gibbs came to St. Louis County, Missouri to help Just Mom’s STL – a Non-Profit Grassroots Organization who have been working over 2 years to bring awareness to the Community and to help them understand what they can do to keep the Communities on both sides of the Missouri River near the West Lake Complex safe from not only the underground Landfill fire with its Toxic non-radioactive fumes, but on what needs to be done to keep that fire from the Nuclear Weapons waste located in an adjacent landfill just 900 feet away.

Regional West Lake Landfill Community Meeting, 09/18/2014

Concerned Citizen’s meeting to learn new and current status of not only the fire (subsurface smoldering event or SSE) in the south quarry of the Bridgeton Landfill, but the status of inputting a barrier between the fire and the nuclear waste in the West Lake Landfill.  The Community heard from Mr. Diedrich from  Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) about Sheltering in Place if there is an incident at the landfill and that they are working on the evacuation plan in case it is needed.

West Lake CAG Will Review And Comment On Technical Documents And Plans Related To The Environment Studies And Cleanup Activities At West Lake Landfill And To Relay Information Between EPA And The Community About The Ongoing Activities At West Lake Landfill In Bridgeton, Mo.

Community Meeting with EPA Region 7 and Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) to discuss issues concerning a preliminary draft report on a proposed barrier trench to be placed in the Bridgeton North Quarry Landfill to stop the Fire/Sub-surface smoldering event (SSE) from reaching the West Lake Landfill which contains illegally dump nuclear waste from the Manhattan Project. Also discussed was testing done by the EPA at a local community complex which is 0.8 miles north of the West Lake Landfill that had some usual gamma readings when tested by a local group due to concern of local citizen on the safety of this site.

St Louis County Regional West Lake Landfill Community Meeting, 04/17/2014

Concerned Citizens Meeting to learn the latest news on the sub-surface smoldering event [SSE] aka Fire at the Bridgeton Landfill that is less than 1000 feet from the West Lake Landfill that contains some of the actual waste from the Manhattan Project. The Community is asking for Congress to moved the jurisdiction from the EPA to the St. Louis Army Corp of Engineers for Evaluation and Remediation via the FUSRAP program [Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program] to decide what is best, Encapsulate or Remove it via rail to a licensed site.

This is unbelievable! They are in denial of the problem they have. They called Dawn Chapman out as a liar!  Some of them are so out of touch.   Three Council members stood up for the Community:  Linda Eaker, Ferd Fetch, and Randy Hein.  Please Call Barb Abram at 314-729-1050 and let her know you are very worried about this Landfill!  She believes we all are ridiculous.

About a month ago, us Mom’s had gotten wind of possible migrating to Bridgeton Municipal Athletic Association BMAC.  We decided it would be in the community’s best interest to test with the money we had available at the time. We had enough funds to get four soil samples. Of those four samples, from what we could tell, nothing came back elevated or a level of concern.
